Video playback failing after upgrade to Fedora 44

I upgraded to Fedora 44 from Fedora 43. After the upgrade, videos on websites like “tagesschau.de” do not play anymore. Websites like “faz.net” or “youtube” work. Help would be nice.

More details required I feel - which browser, what codecs do you have installed, are hardware acceleration enabled, which graphics card and drivers are in use etc.

inxi -Fzxx output would be useful too.

Its Cromium. The other information I don’t know.
Here is the output:

Not using Chromium, but tagesschau.de shows videos just fine on F44[1] using Firefox as Flatpak from Flathub.

Just as a workaround until you fix your issue with Chromium.

  1. Using Silverblue, but should work the same on KDE Edition as well. ↩︎

The inxi output shows that you are booted with the Kernel: 6.19.14-200.fc43.x86_64
It also seems to show that the nvidia GPU is currently inactive.

Does anything change after rebooting and using the f44 kernel instead of the f43 kernel?

In Firefox it works. I also booted the f44 now (I think) . Nvidia still inactive. Still not working in chromium:

tagesschau.de played fine for me on F44 with both firefox and chrome (not chromium) just for another point of reference.
