Installed Viber

`sudo dnf install viber.rpm`

installation went successful.
Ran app using the xfce desktop but no response at all!

went to /opt/viber and then run:

`./Viber`

and it returned this error:

`qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin “xcb” in “” even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, wayland-egl, wayland, wayland-xcomposite-egl, wayland-xcomposite-glx, webgl, xcb.`

any workaround to install viber (except through snap) is appreciated.

why sudo for running the application? That sounds dangerous.

In any case, it sounds like there’s probably a dependency missing, although I’m not sure what offhand.

Ops! typo, my bad. I’ve corrected the previous. Thanks @mattdm.

Yes, it is not safe to use sudo but since Viber won’t run on GUI or non-admin mode, (yes, you’re right) I thought there might be some dependency issue, but it still failed.

Hi dikaiosune and welcome to the community. You can check if a bug is reported yet at bugzilla.redhat.com. If not, you can report new bug there. I know you said no Snap packages but there is a Viber flatpak on Flathub.org, if that is acceptable.
Edit: Forget what I said about bugzilla. I don’t think this is an app packaged by Fedora/Red Hat since it does not have a free license. Where did it come from?

It works for me on Cinnamon spin without any issues. Maybe you could try the AppImage provided by Viber (at the bottom of download page link you provided)?

I would suggest reporting this to Viber. It is almost certainly that some Fedora package needs to be installed, but they haven’t added the dependency to their package properly. Vendor RPMs, unfortunately, are often kind of a mess.

I have not reported this incident to viber yet but after applying Fedora update, reboot then after viber worked with no issue at all. Most probably the problem was dependencies. This is a closed issue. Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts.
