Howdy folks,

Long time reader, first time writer here. I’d like to write up an article on the recent Cloud SIG work to get Fedora Cloud images available in Azure.

Describe how to use the new Fedora images available in Microsoft Azure

Article Description:

The Fedora Cloud SIG has been working hard recently and starting with Fedora
40, the virtual hard drive (VHD) images being produced are compatible with
Microsoft Azure. Furthermore, the images are now available in Azure via the
Community Images service. This article covers how to use these images so users
can run Fedora in Azure.

Outline:

  • Introduce Azure, the logging into web portal, and setting up azure-cli.

  • Describe free-tier options for trying it out.

  • Launching a new virtual machine from Fedora Cloud | The Fedora Project

  • Finding images in the Azure web portal

  • Launching virtual machines from the command line with azure-cli.
