URL structure for Forgejo Instances

What are the benefits from 2 separate Forgejo instances? With a single Git forge instance:

  1. The same organisations can be created as in the currently existing Pagure instance for packages: rpm, container, flatpak, etc.
  2. All old URLs src.fedoraproject.org can be redirected to the respective new URLs under forge.fedoraproject.org with straightforward URL redirection rules.
  3. We don’t end up in the situation we had with the 2 former discussion boards (Ask vs Discussion) which were eventually merged.

I have read all public discussions in the discussion boards that I could find so far under the tags git-forge-future and fedora-forge and I couldn’t discover where this was agreed upon. It seems like this was the plan from the very beginning and there are some technical reasons that require it. Since I am not sure what these are, I would be happy for any clarification about why this distinction is necessary. I will appreciate any help to understand this. (I’m not a packager and it looks like I’m missing some context here.)
