I’m experiening hangs when trying to update my Fedora 44 KDE, however I have no issues updating from the terminal. This was working before.
Is there a way to figure out what is causing this hang? The GUI tells me there are 14 updates, and it seem like “Fetching updates…” complete because the progress-bar reaches the end and then it hangs.
Here are my selected settings:
Known issue - run the dnf update from the command line.
sudo dnf remove plasma-discover-snap should fettle it for you, until it breaks again, until a full fix is pushed from KDE.
I am doing this already, but this doesn’t seem to update all my install flatback apps afaik.
In the past I’ve update from the command-line, and later would still see updates waiting in Discover to be installed and they were mostly flatpak apps.
So then I also need to type, “flatpak update”. With the GUI it’s all just a simple 1 click process.

Indeed, it’s easier with the GUI but as you’re finding out, when the GUI doesn’t work you’re often hooped as you have no idea what’s wrong. KDE Discover is great until it’s not.
sudo snap refresh && flatpak update && sudo dnf update --refresh will update everything. I have it as an abbrev in my shell called upall to update everything.
I don’t think snap is usually recommended for use with fedora. Some may use it with no issues, but others see problems. As a result I never recommend installing or using snap on fedora.
Unfortunate there seems to be zero action happening with the reported bug that has been logged with KDE by me and numerous others. It has been logged 17 times so far as individual bugs. The reason it appears to be a KDE problem and not fedora is that it appears across multiple distros.
