Hi there,
I am looking for help with my F43 workstation, as I updated the system, I started to experience issues like MS Edge, Firefox, Signal flatpaks running in the background while the GUI never appears. There are no errors in the terminal, they run but in the background. Last thing I noticed was it takes 10 sec now for Fedora to actually load and same goes when I logged in, for the desktop to showup.
Any suggestions, comments, tips are more then welcome.
Run journalctl -f in a terminal window - it’ll follow the journal in real time.
Then start firing up these applications which fail to produce a GUI - any errors?

If you remove the “dashtodock” extension or whatever that Gnome thing is, do things improve?
Nope.
Wel, it’s not happy and neither is the blur extension in use. As you can see they flood the journal with them both having a melt-down. fairly sure that’s not expected behaviour.
I assume you’re fully update to date on Flatpak itself and all other updates.
If you create a new user, which starts off with a clean profile, does it exhibit the same behaviour?
The issue persists. BTW i turned off all the plugins and the issue persists as well.
So even when you disable all extensions, reboot and then run a flatpak application, you presumably no longer get a flurry of messages in the journal but nothing appears to indicate the application is actually running, but it still appears in top as consuming resources?
Does this happen with all Flatpaks or just the few you’ve listed?
All Flatpaks I would say. I think it’s the update, don’t see anything that could create this issue.
You could try removing the mesa caches in ~/.cache.
rm -rf ~/.cache/mesa_shader_cache && rm -rf ~/.cache/mesa
However, as you state that this still occurs with a new user profile, I can’t see it making much difference. On the other hand, I can’t see it being a straight F43 update problem or there would be many more people suffering from these issues.

Yep - you noted that. The apps start and execute in their sandbox, but don’t display anything on screen to indicated that they are active.
That would imply it’s a mutter/mesa/wayland problem failing to render the framebuffer.
Are you running an nvidia GPU by any chance? Might be worth porting the output from inxi -Fzxx for anyone else able to assist you - I don’t use Gnome, fortunately.
No, I am not using Nvidia. I find it funny that I see that rpms and snaps work.
Have you tried resetting permissions/overrides for flatpak?
flatpak override --reset
depending on how you’ve got things installed you may need to do
