Hello, now I have a question. I tried to install Spin Cinnamon from Fedora. I created a second partition and then installed it on there. Then after the installation I wanted to update, but the error message was not possible. What could be the reason for this?
I assume you installed cinnamon on the same drive as workstation (or whatever your other OS was)?
If so, then did you also tell it to create a new uefi and boot partition?
If using uefi and a single efi partition then the last installed OS takes control of grub and interferes with several things, including booting, updating, etc. When installing multiple versions or distros of linux it seems necessary for each to have its own efi partition (and boot partition) so one does not interfere with another.
Ahh, thanks for the info. I think I did it that way and was able to install it despite the update problem.
Current hard drive 1 TB, 2 partitions, first partition Fedora KDE and on the second I wanted Cinnamon. I don’t have Windows. I used to have Windows but now only Linux! But it’s good to know. Despite everything, it doesn’t really work. If I do it the way you explained. Maybe a disbu…
I seriously doubt you have only 2 partitions. Fedora, by default, creates at least 3 partitions for an installation. 1 for efi, 1 for /boot, and one for btrfs with / and /home
the lsblk -f
command should show all defined partitions on the system.
Thank yous
What was the error message?
