Update Breaks WIFI Card detection

Hi, new fedora user here!

The issue I keep having is that after installing Fedora42 (downloaded the ISO a few hours ago so it should be the latest available one) on my laptop and installing the latest updates, my Wifi card stops being recognized even tho it worked just fine before, I even installed some programs (Discord and a browser).

Ive tried reinstalling the OS a second time going through the same update and it didn’t fix the issue.

My laptop is an Asus Vivobook S 14 2024 model with a ryzen 5 7535hs and a mediatek Wifi card (although I don’t know the exact model of Wifi card)

Any help Is welcome, have a nice day/night

What OS did it work on?

There are issues with Mediatek on Linux.

Worked both on Win 11 and on Fedora42 before updating it all

Run

lspci -nnk

and

inxi -Fzxx

to identify your hardware and drivers.

You may need to install the commands.

Went into BIOS to check to

Mediatek Wifi 6E MT7922 160Mhz Wirelles Wan Card

Checked in Bash with lspci -nnk and it gave the same result

Mediatek Wifi 6E MT7922 with the Kernel driver being → mt7921e

Im not sure if the inxi -Fzxx istalation fails because I dont have internet (belive it does) but it throws out an error saying it could not resolve host mirrors.fedoraproject.org

run

sudo dnf downgrade mt7xxx-firmware

Thank you very much!!!, I reinstaled the OS again and noted down the driver “name” just in case but your command worked just fine (had to be wired to ethernet for it to work, my usb adapter arrived today)
