I have seen similar comments on various fora, but no realistic solution has been offered.

Systems with wine installed cannot be upgraded to Fedora 43

Deal with other conflicting packages similarly if any.

Thanks.

Removed wine - that only leaves these reamining error messages:

:australia:

  1. Remove the nvautoinstall package (nvautoinstall requires python 3.13 but f43 uses python 3.14 so it will not upgrade)
  1. Remove the scala package (the dependent package from f40 is not in f43)

  2. Follow the instructions in the link posted by @vgaetera above

  3. complete the upgrade.

Thanks all.

Deleting nvautoinstall and scala (whatever that is?), plus earlier deletion of wine allowed the upgrade to proceed.

Could not see any relevant instructions by @vgaetera, but I’m back in business (at a cost of 50% of my data for the month😣️), so thanks for the advice.

dnf caches downloaded packages, and should not re-download when triggering the upgrade process (unless you ran something like dnf clean all)

With default settings, any successful transaction will delete the downloaded rpms unless user adds the option --setopt=keepcache=1.

OPs upgrade wasn’t successful.

He had to remove packages. This is a transaction.

Luckily we are nearly at the end of this month. :upside_down_face:

Nope. Original packages were still on the system AFAIK.

I thought that, given the interlude between first attempting the upgrade and finally achieving it, many packages may have been updated. In any case, it came to just over 9GB.
