Checking the log of a system-upgrade on an RPi I just did I do not see a working network for the any NTP deamon to use in the log of the upgrade.
Oh and I forgot to do the touch the file so it failed the first time!
I was feeling high and riding the lighting and went for a distro-sync to 44.
aaaaaaaand its gone. The GRUB entry is for 43 and boots wonky. TTY shows I’m in 44 but no display manager. Been trying to repair the EFI and the boot partition with a live CD to no avail.
Pretty sure backing up from snapshot won’t fix my boot partion…
If anyone has recommendations for boot repair I’m all ears. Tried adding the entry to grub. Tried reformatting the EFI partition and reinstalling Grub. I’m in it deep.
WE’RE BACK!!! I only had to reinstall grub, the kernel and gnome-shell a few times… I would not recommend using distro-sync to anyone who comes across this. Try clock based solutions first.
systemd-timesyncd does not require network connectivity at startup, it reads the /var/lib/systemd/timesync/clock timestamp from the previous boot, so it should work just fine for offline upgrades.
