Unable to update UEFI.dbx in Fedora 42 KDE

I did some modifications to my computer, including a new SSD SATA disk and I decided to clear the UEFI as to have a fresh start. I proceeded to install Fedora 42 KDE which went fine except for the fact that I didn’t receive the UEFI.dbx updates. Before modification, the computer had UEFI.dbx version 371.

I installed Gnome Firmware updater and the UEFI.dbx section was missing (see attached screenshot). If I proceeded to manually check for UEFI updates in the Konsole by typing fwupdmgr get devices, I would get an error message about updates of UEFI capsules not being available or enabled, with a hyperlink PluginFlag:capsules unsupported · fwupd/fwupd Wiki · GitHub.

Now, I have a Fedora 41 installation disk still available and reinstalled Fedora 41 (and then upgraded to Fedora 42). I can confirm that Fedora 41 does not have this issue. I can update UEFI.dbx just fine.

I would like to know if support for UEFI.dbx updates for older hardware has been removed in Fedora 42. I like Fedora very much, but I’m worried about future installations of OS in case I would run into similar issues.

Thanks to all.
