Unable to install Fedora 40 Workstation on Hybrid intel/nvidia laptop

Greetings,

I’m trying to do a fresh install Fedora 40 Gnome on my Acer Aspire E5-576G laptop with hybrid graphics intel/nvidia, but I am unable due to exceissive lockup when using the usb live iso. I downloaded the .iso twice, once from Fedoras official website: Fedora Workstation | The Fedora Project and once also from the Fedora Media Writer which downloaded and burned the iso automatically. The other time I burned the iso to usb I used the GKT4 app Impression: Impression – Apps for GNOME

In both these cases, when booting F40 from the usb, it would take like 5-10 mins just to get to the Hello screen to install. And even then when using the installer screen, everything just locks up and freezes. I did not have any issues with previous Fedora install, but I imagine it has something to do with my intel or nvidia or nouveau or the kernel it was shipped with being wonky?

Is there anythign I can type or adjust in an edit before the usb boot to make things work so I can get a fresh install of Fedora 40? Thanks for any help.

edit1: I’ve also verified the integrity of the .iso(s) and everything, and have tried multiple usb drives as well, still all freezing once Fedora 40 live usb install screen shows.

edit2: Per @computersavvy’s answer was what did the trick! Thank you, I should have known to try that option, but always forgot it was there. Fully up to date with a fresh F40, thanks again!

Did you do a normal boot to install or did you use the troubleshooting option to boot?
For many with the nvidia gpu it seems the troubleshooting option with basic graphics allows a boot and install without problems.

Add this kernel option before booting the LIve session:

nouveau.modeset=0

I had to do that for most distros on an Alienware Intel/NV laptop. Once NVIDIA’s graphics driver is installed post-install you can remove that or just ignore it.
