Unable to change advertised bluetooth class

I am trying to change the bluetooth class my PC advertises, however all methods I’ve tried did not yield any result.

What I’ve tried:

  • Attempted to set Class = 0x240414 under [General] in /etc/bluetooth/main.conf and then sudo systemctl restart bluetooth
  • Setting through bluetoothctl:
    • bluetoothctl > power off
    • menu mgmt > class 0x04 0x14 > back
    • power on
  • Rebooting

However, despite class saying “succeeded”, running bluetoothctl show shows Class: 0x007c0000 (8126464).

System info:

  • Fedora Workstation 44
  • Kernel Linux 7.1.13-200.fc44.x86_64

What can I do to change the advertised bluetooth class?
