Just got a new Star Labs Starlite Tablet with Fedora 44 Workstation installed.
For the most part, interacting with Gnome via touch screen is pretty good.
However, I’ve noticed that there are a handful of apps which do not respond any differently to a long-press versus a tap. Meaning that there’s simply no way (that I can find) to open a right-click menu in those scenarios.
What’s more, I can’t seem to figure out how to control which version of the OSK I get with each app. The one that comes up with the Terminal has modifier keys which allow me to CTRL+v. Others don’t.
I have tried enabling ‘Simulated Secondary Click’ in the Accessibility settings. This doesn’t seem to have changed the behavior when using the touch screen but it has enabled the expected behavior when a mouse is connected and the left button is held down for a couple seconds.
Some example apps exhibiting this behavior are:
Gnome text editor
Nautilus (manual file path entry, long-press in main files area - except on the folder or file itself)
Libreoffice (Calc, Writer)
System dialog fields (wifi password, add printer search, etc)
Is there any known way to fix or adjust this behavior? Perhaps something in gsettings that I’m not seeing when I look? An extension I’ve missed?
