Thunderbird switched from ESR to Release version?

Just reinstalled my Fedora 43 and all of my packages. Now, I was wondering that Thunderbird is available as Version 146.0. ESR version is 140.6.0.

Didn’t recognize that, because I was using the Release version and installed it manually via tar file till then.

I always wanted to be able to choose between ESR and Release version. So, I like that switch. But the profile folder is still named “123.default-esr“, that’s why I was wondering.

Looks like the switch was made in October already.

Did I miss an announcement?

Sorry for my stupid question, but what does that mean? Is Fedora really on Release channel now, or still on ESR channel?

Fedora used to be on ESR until recently (not sure when the change happened) and is now providing stable (v.146 as of today).

Great! I like! :+1:

Changed the profile folder from “123.default-esr“ to “123.default-default“. Maybe this should happen when installing Thunderbird from scratch.

I think if you installed non-ESR Thunderbird from scratch and created a profile, you’d indeed get one without “esr” in the name.

No, that’s not the case. I did that yesterday, installed Fedora 43 KDE from scratch and got that esr-profile. That’s why I was wondering …

Aha, then that does indeed seem confusing
