Thunderbird Download Emails In Wrong Folder After Update

Hi,

Since the latest thunderbird update to version 155.0, the downloading of e-mails is into the following

Inbox/Local Folder/SubFolder/AnotherSubFolder

I have repaired the folders for the top Inbox and AnotherSubFolder, but this has failed, and the emails still download as per the path above.

I have deleted or moved various files as per the internet search, based on the grep of the directory content (recursive) to see where the AnotherSubFolder appears - the application rebuilds, but still the same issue.

Since the filters run on Inbox, then i have to then run filters on the AnotherSubFolder to distribute the messages accordingly.

I checked bugzilla for the past few days and there does not seem to be any issue related - although there are quite a few to scan.

Does anyone know which path of thunderbird directs incoming messages to the relevant folder and how to modify or correct the problem ?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Shadders.

Looks like this issue has few other reports too?

says that this was fixed in 155.0.1

Hi,

Thanks for the reply and locating that bug.

I will await version 155.01 but for myself, i do not think the filters are being actioned as the immediate action is to place all messages into the AnotherSubFolder. The bug report indicates that message filters are being actioned, but mine is not actioned - since there is usually a delay between the emails being downloaded, appearing in Inbox, then being filtered to the correct folder.

Therefore, i may be back…

Thanks and regards,

Shadders.

Version 156.0.1 should be available in updates-testing.

Somehow, I am not surprised that Thunderbird would end up messing up mail boxes sooner or later. Personally, I’d prefer if Fedora continued to package the ESR branch instead.

Latest update today for Thunderbird v156.0-1 has resolved the issue.
