Curious what people think about Niri so far. I haven’t used it yet myself but the mechanics of it look amazing. I could honestly see myself replacing KDE Plasma with Niri if Niri became an official Edition for Fedora. I’ve switched from sway to niri and have been daily driving it since around October. There’s still a few edges that I don’t particularly love (workspace placing being one), but otherwise I’m quite happy with the setup. The only real downside is the high resource usage. I probably won’t be putting niri on my low end travel Thinkpad.

I’ve never been a fan of window managers, but this new “scrolling tiling WMs” concept is actually something that I might want to use.
My specs (constraints): 6 GB of DDR4 RAM + 2 GB of the same RAM stick as VRAM (total RAM stick’s capacity = 8GB)
Ryzen 3250U + iGPU
I consider niri quite great functionality wise, but currently it’s keeping one core of a Ryzen 7 PRO 8840HS at at least 3% utilization and sometimes it spikes to 20%. As a long time i3/sway user, that feels like a lot. i3 and sway would be barely noticeable, but then again, they offer next to no eye-candy.
