Hi, I’ve had this issue pop up right after an update. I made a post on Reddit asking about it, so I’ll just copy paste what I wrote below:
Hey, so when booting in F43 KDE, I keep getting this pop up saying the message mentioned in the title. Ive tried rolling back to older kernel versions and it still happens. I’m unable to open up the terminal or any apps, except Dolphin. This happened right after an update, so I’m trying to roll back with btrfs assistant, but I can’t do that when I can’t open any apps.
Then, I managed to open up btrfs assistant using Dolphin’s in-built terminal with F4 but when I go to restore I get “failed to make a backup of target sub volume“
Through some Googling, found out something called baloo. I deleted the files inside of it, did a reboot, and the tags error is gone, but I’m still unable to open any apps except dolphin and btrfs-assistant through Dolphin’s terminal
im trying to open stuff from the terminal like Vivaldi and Brave and it’s showing something about failed to create and singleton lock: no space left on device. This doesn’t make sense because I have 54gb left of space.
I checked and there is no such file called singleton lock
Edit: I randomly got Lutris to open up but then it hit with the no space left. So something in the update got screwed where it thinks i don’t have enough space. I’m checking btrfs assistant and it’s saying that metadata is that 96%, could this be the culprit?
Edit 2: Fixed it. Tried to run a balance but didn’t work so I deleted some snapshots. Basically I saved too many snapshots and I was able to run a balance and everything seems to be good again.
