The Audio Volume widget quit working. This occurred two or three days ago. Audio Volume provided an error list:
qrc:/qt/qml/plasma/applet/org/kde/plasma/volume/main.qml:528:13: Type MicrophoneTestView unavailable
qrc:/qt/qml/plasma/applet/org/kde/plasma/volume/MicrophoneTestView.qml:60:9: Type Kirigami.InlineMessage unavailable
file:///usr/lib64/qt6/qml/org/kde/kirigami/controls/InlineMessage.qml:14:1: Type KT.InlineMessage unavailable
qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/kirigami/templates/InlineMessage.qml:187:51: Cannot assign object of type “Primitives.IconPropertiesGroup” to property of type “IconPropertiesGroup_QMLTYPE_303*” as the former is neither the same as the latter nor a sub-class of it.
In my case it was not system-wide. Created a fresh user account, logged in, and the volume applet loaded normally on the same packages. That narrowed it to something under ~/.config rather than the Qt/Kirigami stack.
Moving the file aside entirely → applet works (default panel)
Restoring it → breaks again
Removing just the two org.kde.plasma.volume applet blocks → still breaks
Removing one whole panel containment → works
So the trigger was elsewhere in that panel’s config, not in the volume applet’s own entries. I didn’t narrow it further than the containment.
Suggested check for others: create a test user and log in. If the applet works there, it’s config-local and bisecting the appletsrc by containment will find it
Thank you. I’ll mess around with .config and if I can’t figure it out I’ll just start removing the kde configs.
I suspected it was a problem in my .config but I decided to ask for help first. So you gave me permission to go ahead and mess around with the .config files.
