The problem

after I updated to fedora 43 and get the new plasma updates, I found that the blur functionality doesn’t work well. It’s showing bright colors instead of blur effect. I haven’t played with any configurations or changed anything. I just updated to the new release of Fedora KDE.

side note

I had also stacked with another problem with KDE in this article but it’s worked after downgrading kf6-krunner but I had update everything in the system after that and also blur was working before and after downgrading it didn’t broke only after updating.

problems timeline

so I hade faced 3 problems with every update:

  1. after upgrading fedora to 43 release the app launchers broke
  2. downgrading k6-krunner fixed it
  3. after updating the system it’s field to start
  4. updating again from the tty fixed the problem
  5. the blur now is broken after updating

without blur

with blur

This looks like an upstream issue in KDE Plasma. A fix has been committed so we’ll hopefully get this in 6.5.2.
