Text rendering artifacts in Gnome apps on RDNA4

Hello, recently (on Fedora 41) I noticed strange text artifacts after installing a new GPU - AMD Radeon RX 9070. It is a brand new card based on RDNA4 architecture. The driver is Mesa 25.0.2-3.fc42. Also I did a clean setup of Fedora 42, and I still see this problem present, it is subtle though, you almost need a trained eye to spot it.
On F41 this was most obvious in “resources” app. Now I’ve spotted it in the default Settings app.

Try to look closely on “Displays”, “Appearance”, “Apps”, etc.

When I hover my mouse on problematic entries they redraw and fix themselves.
Does anybody have this same problem maybe on other hardware? I hope this is a software issue coz GPU prices are through the roof nowadays. On Windows 11 it runs games flawlessly.

This is likely a bug in the AMD GPU driver and/or Mesa, similar bugs have been present on AMD graphics recently. The best option is probably to wait for software updates, but if you want to try out a workaround you could test with the one described in the thread below:

I’m experiencing the same but with KDE. Tried amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 but did not work.
Mesa 25.0.2

Seems to be fixed in Mesa 25.0.4, although it is not mentioned in the changelog as far as I can see. In theory it could also be something else, not Mesa, hard to tell for sure.

Mesa 25.0.3 also had a bunch of fixes, including radv and GFX12.

Upd: just noticed it in “Clocks” application

Im still experiencing it, but its not very noticeable on most apps. Some glitches here and there, Firefox however is very bad, chrome not so much.

Interesting because I have 0 issues in Firefox and I use it often, maybe your issue is different?
