I do believe you have some trash in the caches … did you try to flush it? It will then push the new ip’s to the cache and this is probably now happening. While older connections get renewed, the newer still can be in the cache. Over the mobile you are probably using different routes and ip’s.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I had done what you suggested.
I still can’t get the site I most want - this one. I get the row of dots waiting symbol, but no further.
Did you replace addresses in the output with 9s? It’s fine, just trying to understand the output.
for the sites that don’t work what is the output of resolvectl query
if you manually change the dns in the network manager gui for the connection do the indications change?
Are you still connected via etherent to the broadband router/switch?
Did you… yes for security.
If you… sorry, you’ve lost me.
Are you… No, I’m quite sure of that because ive posted the modem back to the provider ![]()
I’m on that panel now and have changed to manual. What should I put in Addresses and/or DNS?
for testing 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8
I’ve put 1.1.1.1 in Addresses
I’ve put 8.8.8.8 in DNS
Just change the DNS ip address, not the IP Address
In DNS I’ve tried
1.1.1.1
8.8.8.8
1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8
8.8.8.8 1.1.1.1
In all cases the Apply button is greyed out.
Ah, I’d turned off all 3 Automatic boxes. Now as your example.
CNN news and now BBC News OK. Although images are slow to load - probably because mobile signal is low capacity.
This site still gets stuck on the blue dots…
Like this?
Can you try clearing your browser cache?
Probably should’ve asked first.
You can reach all these sights from the device your tethering from? (assuming it’s a phone)
It looks like, just not make sense to work on a mobile for that.
I also would propose to clean the browser cache and repeating the dns flush.
For copr I also would give the CLI a try (link posted above).
Did you try to make your phone a WiFi hotspot? It uses way more battery than tethering, but might be easier to get working in Fedora
I’ve done as illikelinux suggested, which I think clears the browser cache:
sudo resolvectl flush-caches
I can reach any site on my tethered mobile. Using it now on this site.
I did, but it wasn’t seen in Fedora.
I’ve just tried again and it says network connection failed.
I’m also nervous about security, as it doesn’t attempt to check whether I want to “pair” them.
On firefox → Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data
I’ve tried that, without success.
I’ve managed to get the package built on COPR!
I now want to update the source on GitHub with “git push”. It’s hanging, presumably because the tethering isn’t working. Is there a way to fix it just for the link to GitHub?
