I just installed the new driver from testing on my system.
I have been running the akmod-nvidia-open package from the tainted repo.
This installation of the updated drivers forced a reinstall (as dependencies) of both akmod-nvidia and xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-kmodsrc which were previously removed when I switched to using the open driver.
Once the upgrade was completed and I was finally able to resume with my 4k resolution screen I was able to manually remove those 2 packages which should not be dependencies for the akmod-nvidia-open package.

The kmod-nvidia-open package did not get built and installed with the upgrade.
I then ran sudo akmods --force --rebuild --kernels 6.14.8-300.fc42.x86_64
which said OK for both the kmod-nvidia and kmod-nvidia-open packages but failed to install either kmod package.
I then rebooted and during the reboot the package appears to have been compiled and installed but that boot wound up with only having an 800x600@60Hz display even though lsmod showed the drivers installed (and the resolution could not be altered)
After another reboot the driver appears to have loaded properly and my 4k resolution was once again available.
So far the 575 driver appears OK but the installation fails to compile/install the driver and requires manual intervention to force the build which only worked for me with 1) a reboot and the automatic build during boot and 2) then another reboot to activate the driver.
Don’t use the akmod-nvidia-open package, it causes dependency issues.
Use akmod-nvidia, it has auto detection to switch to open.
You insist on using both the kmod-nvidia and kmod-nvidia-open packages, I’m sure I’ve already told you about this before.
Using the macro method is the preferred method to use open driver with pre 575.xx
I will be retiring the kmod-nvidia-open soon as it has no further usage.
Trying to install 575 failed both on silverblue and clean ferdora system, on silverblue it seems to just install but then i get kernel panic at boot, on workstation it installed for the first time did a kernel panic, then i removed it and sudo akmods --force
now fails to even install the module.
Here are the logs for when akmods failed to install the module
Log link
Not true.
I have been using only the akmod-nvidia-open package for quite some time on my main system.
This upgrade to the 575 driver forced the reinstall of akmod-nvidia and xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-kmodsrc packages (which I noted above) which have not been installed for as long as I have been using the open package.
I will remove kmod-nvidia-open from the repo, it no longer has a use.

No issues for me on F42
There have been no reported issues, 575.xx will be pushed to stable for all fedora releases on Friday.
This is likely because you haven’t enabled the tainted repo with the matching kernel-nvidia-open driver. At least that the only reason why kmod-nvidia would be enforced over the kmod-nvidia-open.
Can you clarify ?
I have both the tainted repo and the updates repo enabled.
This occurred when I did the upgrade of the akmod-nvidia-open package to 575 from the testing repo. sudo dnf upgrade akmod-nvidia-open --enablerepo rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing
It installed both akmod-nvidia and xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-kmodsrc as dependencies. Both had been removed when I began using the open driver over a year ago using the command sudo dnf swap akmod-nvidia akmod-nvidia-open
from the howto page.
Once installed I was able to manually remove those 2 packages again, but this appears an issue in the rpm specs that it pulled them in as dependencies.
There is one small issue though.
It looks like grubby is not called during a driver upgrade.
meaning, the blacklist was still only blocking nouveau and not nouveau,nova_core
I had to manually execute grubby to add the missing nova_core module to restore audio on my system. Was testing 6.15.1 and audio sink was missing ( DisplayPort )
Hi,
I have this version installed and the driver doesn’t seem to load at all:
My GPU is Nvidia 5070 Ti Laptop

I don’t know where I’ve gone wrong but the previous version was working and it started to fail to load the driver since last night when it updated.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
$ ll /etc/grub2.cfg
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 22 Mar 27 01:00 /etc/grub2.cfg -> ../boot/grub2/grub.cfg
remove ‘nvidia-drm.modeset=1’
what is output of modinfo -l nvidia
?
it should be
$ modinfo -l nvidia
Dual MIT/GPL
sudo sh -c 'echo "%_with_kmod_nvidia_open 1" > /etc/rpm/macros.nvidia-kmod'
You can remove the file in /etc/rpm/
File is not needed anymore with the akmod-nvidia-575* rpm.
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the quick reply.
ll /etc/grub2.cfg
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 22 Mar 27 00:00 /etc/grub2.cfg -> ../boot/grub2/grub.cfg
I did and it’s still the same with the same error messages in the logs.
It’s as exactly as you’ve mentioned Dual MIT/GPL
I tried it but I’m afraid it’s still exactly the same problem.
Any more thoughts mate please?
Thank you

is this a fresh install or did you upgrade from 570.*
try this:
sudo dnf remove kmod-nvidia-6.14.9-300.fc42.x86_64
sudo akmods
reboot
It updated from 570.* last night.
Trying now. Will be back in a second.
Thank you
Still exactly the same I’m afraid. The same error message in the logs.
