Please join us for upcoming Test Days and help us improve Fedora’s quality and stability.
Your participation helps us find and fix bugs before the next release, ensuring a smoother experience for all users.
This time we’ll focus on testing KDE Plasma 6.7.
You’ll install Fedora from the provided test image and report your test results along with your hardware configuration.
Yes, this is a good point!
It would be useful to use F45 Beta images for testing once they are available.
I will update test image link once it is known.
The currently available Plasma version in Fedora 44 is already 6.7, isn’t it? Or am I misunderstanding something?
Is this supposed to be the Test Days for Plasma 6.8? If so, how can we test 6.8? I grabbed the latest nightly (Fedora-Rawhide-20260914.n.0), but it still boots into 6.7.5.
I don’t want to be negative here, but is it wise to start the KDE 6.7 in F45 testdays now? There are several things wrong at the moment with computers using AMD CPU’s/GPU’s. When F45 is supplied with the same (or newer) versions of the packages which cause the trouble in F44 and these newer versions are not cured yet, KDE 6.7 will not run flawlessly in F45.
I think, but who am I and what do I know, the trouble with AMD equipment should be fixed first.
I installed Kinoite this weekend and running the ISO which I downloaded from the Fedora download page works perfectly, but updating it to the latest version I only have my (external) monitor while the internal laptop screen shows only black.
How to test F45 with this? When does something in F45 work and when doesn’t it work when you don’t have the full machine to test it?
I apologize for this post but I think many people here face these AMD problems, people who also might want to test as well.
this is a valid concern and also the exact reason why we do testdays. We would like to gather test reports from as wide hardware spectrum as possible to find out all possible pain points before F45 is released. While some problems are already known, somebody might stumble upon some previously unknown corner case. And the sooner a problem is found out the sooner KDE developers can start fixing it.
If you experience any problems with KDE 6.7 in Fedora 45 KDE nightly, please add your test results (even if it is just black screen) to results page here: KDE Plasma 6.7 Your feedback will be much appreciated!
Let me just note that while testing on Kinoite is an useful data point, it is not the primary testing target. We’d prefer to focus on non-atomic Fedora 45 KDE.
