I actually just today upgraded to 26. 04 Ubuntu… I’m so used to it . From 25.10. Codecs and snap store and everything. But damm, KDE is tempting. But codecs out of the box are huge. Damm. I used fedora workstation a bit before being on ubuntu. But now kde is actually really tempting. And i do love ubuntu
If it’s KDE that’s tempting you, why not Kubuntu?
As for codecs, I have only ever had minor issues with RPMFusion (like a slight delay between a Mesa update in Fedora and the corresponding -freeworld version in RPMFusion). And Flatpaks from Flathub (not from Fedora) also support a wide variety of patent-encumbered formats.
All you have to do in follow RPM Fusion and you are good to go. Unless of course you also need RPM Fusion Nvidia
So I would say it is minor.
it feels like afterthought
Install VirtualBox from the repos (or the snap if you prefer) on Ubuntu and test Kubuntu and Fedora in virtual machines would be my suggestion.
Decide which you like and consider dual-booting or even triple-booting if that takes your fancy.
it wont work in my situation
