System immediately wakes up after entering sleep mode following recent updates

Hello!

After several major system and system component updates, my system stopped going into sleep mode properly. When I try to put the system to sleep, the screen turns off, but then immediately turns back on and returns to the user login screen, as if I had manually woken the system from sleep.

If I close the laptop lid, the system repeatedly tries to enter sleep mode, which causes increased system load.

I would appreciate your help in resolving this issue, preferably without reinstalling the operating system.

I don’t know if this is related or not. I have the same CPU in my Lenovo laptop. I noticed tonight after updating and restarting that my system isn’t sleeping properly. The screen blanks as expected. After 15 minutes, when the system should be going to sleep, the screen wakes up and says that it’s about to go to sleep. It has always done that, but in the past, it did sleep. Tonight, I noticed that the system wasn’t actually asleep (LEDs still on, power button not flashing, and power draw from the plug). So, not identical in as much as it’s not taking me back to the login screen (screen remains blank).

OP noted they were using KDE. I am using Gnome (but I do have KDE libraries installed for some programs I prefer).

As far as I know, my system properly slept yesterday. Something that was different today was that I ran dnf update and rebooted as dnf needs-restarting said that was needed.

Som of the updated libraries are QT6, so that could be a connection to KDE as well.

OP noted this began a few days ago, whereas my problem began today (as far as I know). So, it’s possible my issue is unrelated.

We can probably disregard my post. I played around a bit more yesterday and it seems to be working fine now. Unclear whether my issue was random chance or a real problem that clear up temporarily. But, probably unrelated to OP’s issue. Sorry for the red herring.
