i am facing an issue i am on wayland fedora 42 linux and fully updated issue is when i see play a full screen video my system hangs screen goes black and i have to force restart to fix this but when i set this as 100% i never find any such issue what so ever. tested with all browsers and all resolutions.
I see amdgpu and imagine it’s a HW video playback ordeal, but if it works at 100% then it sounds like an interaction between GNOME and amdgpu (maybe an experimental fractional scaling thing or fractional scaling/DRM/amdgpu interaction).
I’m not sure what to suggest, but if it’s a driver bug it might need a manual fix (patch/recompile); I’d report it upstream.
This is so that you can run journalctl and see the latest logs it was not a suggested fix. I hope that there are logs reporting error you can find.
Check both system and user journals.
I will be busy .i will try that. But i am sure that frictional scaling does this issue but yes. I have to mention this i have tested kde plasma with a flash drive and it did not have that issue…
Once you have a error logs related to the problem you have useful information that the developer is likely to need to understand why fractional scaling is breaking.
Then you can raise a bug report that is has a chance to be worked on.
