Super slow wifi with RTL8188EU

I usually get ~30mbps on Windows, but with Linux, I get ~300kbps out of the box. Using github/aircrack-ng/rtl8188eus makes it better, but I still only get ~5-10mbps max.

This happens on Zorin 17 Core, Nobara 39, and Pop!_OS 22.04 (currently using Nobara). The kernel I am using is 6.8.5-201.fsync.fc39.x86_64

How do I increase my network speeds? Thank you

Here we are on Fedora! Windows uses proprietary drivers. If you really want something what is working use hardware where is supported also in Linux.

You might ask by Nobara and also reveal what hardware you use.

The reason I asked here is because Nobara is basically vanilla Fedora but has a smaller support community.

Is getting a new Wi-Fi adapter really the only way out? Would like to keep my current one if I can

GloriousEggRoll does make some changes that are not supported by Fedora, which is why He made Nobara.

Have you checked with the community on their Discord to see If they will help. Someone there might provide that support for you?

I don’t want to sound rude or crass, but this statement is like saying I run Pop_OS, so I asked my questions on Ubuntu forums then Debian forums because they are all Debian at the end of the day. . .
