Hi, I am facing strange behaviour of touchpad - fedora 44 running on Lenovo Yoga 2-in-1. When I am moving cursor within a touchpad, it has been randomly each f.e. 3 minutes for several seconds switched into selection mode. So the text is about to be selected. After while the selection mode is disabled. When the selection mode is unwantedly activated the simple click does not work. It is necessary to wait until the selection mode is spontaneously disabled. It is pretty annoying. It is repeated every 1-3 minutes for several seconds. I have tried to switch to Sway windows manager just to prove if it is not Gnome specific. And the same behaviour is present also in Sway window manager. How to correct this very inconvenient error? Do you think it can be hardware problem? How to analyze such kind of problem? Thank you very much for any hint.
Your issue appears to affect many user with similar hardware. Is your vendor firmware up to date? Have you looked for details in the journal? A workaround that works for some users who experience core dumps is:
sudo modprobe -r i2c_hid_acpi i2c_hid
sudo modprobe i2c_hid_acpi i2c_hid
Thank you for you response. Meanwhile I have found out, that the problem is very probably connected to the fact that bluetooth mouse, I am using with computer, has run out of battery. The mouse was switched on but run out of the battery. It seems that it somehow sent invalid signals to the notebook. When I switched off the mouse and later change the battery to new one, the problem with switching accidentally to selection mode disappears. Thank you and have a nice day. It is often like in Sherlock Holmes stories - a mysterious things have simple logical explanations.
