Steam stuck on bootstrap

using m2 mac air with only 8gb ram, when launching steam it gets stuck on the bootstrapping steam step and doesn’t leave it.

Have you tried running steam in a shell, to see what error messages it shows?

You can try removing .fex-emu, .local/share/Steam, and .steam and see if that helps. Maybe there’s some old invalid data that doesn’t work.

In any case, note that 8GB is below the recommended specs for Steam (emulation currently uses a lot of RAM, this should get fixed in the future). But Steam itself should be able to start.

Also, did you fully update your system and restart?

Yeah i think its just a ram issue, i have been able to get steam running but its very unstable still on my system.

I’m not a heavy gamer, however, I was able to run some steam games after I turned my display down to 1080p and no scaling
