Last night I installed Fedora 44 (sway spin) on my Lenovo laptop. I used Fedora Media Writer for the… well, you know. In the Grub menu thing, there’s 3 options (based on my memory, may not be correct):
- Start installation
- Test installation media & start…
- UEFI firmware settings
I picked the second one which said that this installation media was not recommended. I of course ignored it and picked the first option and continued the installation. I enabled the encryption thingy aswell as the root user thingy (probably shouldn’t have googled what those do).
After the installation was done, I rebooted the laptop. It asked for the passphrase for disk blahblahblah. I forgot it. Well, not completely. I enter something. It loaded for a bit. It asked for the passphrase again (exact same screen & prompt). I entered the same thing. It loaded for a long time. And then I’m in emegency mode. It says:
Warning: /dev/disk/by-uuid/... does not exist
Generating "/run/initramfs/rdsosreport.txt"
Entering emergency mode. Exit the shell to continue.
Type "journalctl" to view system logs.
You might want to save "/run/initramfs/rdsosreport.txt" to a USB stick or /boot
after mounting them and attach it to a bug report.
Enter root password for system maintenance
(or press Control+D to continue):
Then I type the root password. I type journalctl and got a bunch of text. I don’t understand them, at all. There’s a lot of text, like 700+ lines I think. There’s some errors sprinkled throughout. Here’s a picture of the first few:
If I type exit or press Ctrl+D in the roor password prompt, it prints these 2 lines:

[ 912.314465] dracut-initqueue[456]: You might want to regenerate your initramfs
And the cursor is just blinking there. At this point I turn off the laptop since nothing seems to be happening.
I tried different passphrases, and using different passphrases for the 2 prompts. But the sams thing happens. I think either this happens because the passphrase is incorrect (I forgot it, remember?) or it just happens regardless. I tried to reinstall but the Grub menu doesn’t show an option to boot from a USB.
