Silverblue, Upgrade to F33

Yay. However, I am dissatisfied to see Fedora Silverblue to be neglected in the installation/upgrade instructions. The link there goes to Upgrading to a new release of Fedora :: Fedora Docs, which currently still lists it as Fedora Atomic Host, which it is not called anymore for a long time.

Because especially if you use RPMFusion that is not easy.

There is a section dedicated to Silverblue in the docs site: Fedora Silverblue User Guide :: Fedora Docs specifically Updates, Upgrades & Rollbacks :: Fedora Docs

Maybe the doc you are talking about needs to be simply updated with the correct links. Could you take care of this? Everyone can submit edits to the docs and every contribution is welcome.

I made some quick’n dirty changes to documentation of the Upgrading process in Silverblue.

Please check and feel free to improve.

The same things but for Silverblue

and here is the magazine post:

Please open a dedicated topic related to issues you encounter upgrading and installing Fedora, and please don’t post your issues as an answer to this announcement, since it could not be spotted by other people.

OK, no problem. I do that

What’s the process if one uses RPMFusion? Maybe we can document that too. Not a Silverblue user myself, so no experience with ostree and rpmfusion repo.

Well, basically (at least) uninstall everything form rpmfusion, upgrade and then reinstall it. See this thread.

Or do the uninstall and install the right version in one command!

Except that Twitter is ugly and destroys the correct link:

rpm-ostree rebase fedora-workstation:fedora/33/x86_64/silverblue --uninstall rpmfusion-free-release-32-1.noarch --install
