Cannot install a shared windows printer via samba. How to solve this?

Is this a printer connected by usb to a windows machine that runs as a print server?
Is it a network attached printer?
is it attached to the host in dual boot with windows?
Is it necessary to use smb or can your linux machine connect directly to the printer?
In other words, please describe the setup.
Hardware – printer details, windows machine, linux machine, and how the printer is attached.
Its on the network , the printer is atached via usb on windos 10 and shared in my local network. Fedora 40 instaled in another PC in the same local network.
This means the windows machine must
- be awake
- have the printer configured as shared
- be running a newer version of smb.
Fedora seems to have dropped support for the version 1 smb by default. It apparently can be enabled to support the older smb version but I do not use smb so do not remember what i have read about it.
The only way to install the printer is via samba, or there is another ? I have linux mint in the same network and its work fine, the same printer is instaled via samba !!! Why not fedora???
