Hi, I decided to give Fedora another try after several months and, besides Plasma being bugged as usual, I get several of these kernel related errors, three at least, on every boot. This is after a fresh install and all updates installed in WMWare Worstation Pro 17.6.3 so there is no NVIDIA involved.
I tried all CPU virtualization options but they make no difference. Running in UEFI mode without secure boot option.
What does it men. Why do they happen? Everything seems to work otherwise, just these errors pop up. Is it safe to use the system? Thanks.
There was another post recently about a similar issue when running f42 in a VM on VMWare (which is not a fedora (or even open source) package)
The suggested fix was to try using qemu/kvm for the virtual manager instead of the proprietary VMWare manager. You do not show what OS is running on the host, but unless it is windows the switch should be relatively easy.
Yes, VMWare on Windows 11 with the default OpenVM tools. Well, this didn’t seem to have any negative effects on the machine. Everything worked, so I just continued using it. It was just for testing F42 which ended anyway after couple of days due to the latest Plasma being particularly buggy. Thanks!
