"Set as default" has no effect and instantly reverts back to application set in Default Applications

Hello everybody,

I’ve just upgraded two systems to Fedora 32. Playing around with them I found the following bug on both systems:

  • Set different players for Video and Music in your “Default applications” Gnome settings.
  • Try to set an invidual default for an Audio file which contains an embedded cover. In my example an ogg - which gets the mime-type: video/ogg
  • Trying to set the individual default instantly snaps back to the “Default application” choosen in Gnome settings.

This problem might be older and unreletated to the upgrade.

I’ve created a screencapture and filed an issue with Nautilus just now: "Set as default" has no effect and reverts back to application set in Default Applications (#1455) · Issues · GNOME / Files · GitLab

Can someone reproduce this issue?

The best place to report bugs is here

Since you like living in the future (beta, rawhide), then you should consider getting a bugzilla account. Fedora loves people who report bugs.

File your bugs at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/
Login → New → Fedora (Fedora Products) → Fedora
