Secure Boot Hangs Fedora 44

Finally dumped Windows for a new install of Fedora-44 on my daily driver.
When I attempt to run update for Secure Boot Signature Database Configuration Update, my system freezes and I have to power cycle to recover.
System operates without issue as long as I don’t attempt this update. I would like to install update if possible.

I (computersavvy) converted your text to preformatted text so it appears exactly as you saw it on screen. Please always use the preformatted text tags available with the </> button on the toolbar when pasting text copied from your screen so it remains formatted as you see it. Doing so makes it much easier to read.

I suggest you you use the fwuppmgr to do the DB update.
It should print logs for you to see what is going on.
See the man page on how to use the command details.

Use fwupdmgr get-updates to find out what can be updated.

Use fwupdmgr update to apply updates, it will prompt for a confirmation.

I’ve just updated one of my systems that this is what I did:

$ sudo fwupdmgr update

An update requires a reboot to complete. Restart now? [y|N]: y

You may need newer UEFI firmware than 2017 to support the signature database update.

I assume I would need to get that from MSI? My laptop is so old, im sure they no longer support , but I will check.

Thanks for the tip.

Same result from a terminal.

So it just does not complete? Is the computer otherwise responsive?

No ; it’s completely locked.
Fans spin up to high and mouse/keyboard access is frozen.

After doing some digging, I found a new version of BIOS for my laptop (https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GS72-6QE-Stealth-Pro4K/support).
Once I flashed my BIOS and rebooted, I was able to install the secure boot update.
Thanks for your help everyone!
