Secondary display going black every time I hover over to it

Not sure what is going on but I do have Cosmic desktop installed as well as KDE and these problems started when I installed XFCE. The secondary screen keeps turning on and off.
It also looks like I have two system monitors installed for some reason now which could be a big part of the problem.
I also know that in due to wayland still being pretty new it was wayland. After doing a restart it wasn’t just my second screen that was going all funky both were flashing on and off so I kind of had no choice but to do a fresh reinstall.
Every time I would mouse over to do anything as soon as the mouse drag started happening the screen would go black for about fourty seconds.

You could try removing Xfce?

Maybe testing new desktops in a VM woukd eliminate conflicts?

Does the problem occur in all three destops?

Having 3 different DEs installed can cause problems with conflicting settings files and things like that. You could try creating a different user for each DE as sometimes that helps. However, it’s probably going to be best long term to just pick one and re-install with just one DE. As mentioned, VMs are a great way to try out as many DEs as you want without any conflicts. As an experiment, you could boot a live USB drive with one of them and see if the problem occurs with just that one DE present.

My solution was a complete brand new install of the main desktop that I use which is COSMIC. Had everything I needed done and installed updated within about thirty five minutes. I know now don’t install Xfce with the cosmic desktop and KDE desktop.
