Hello!
I’m having a strange issue with my screen turning off exactly 15 seconds after login. It turns back on instantly on mouse movement or keyboard input.
This occurs in two specific situations:
- When I open the laptop lid and log in, after 15 seconds the screen and keyboard light turn off. If i move my mouse and/or press a key, everything turns back on and works normally with no later interruptions.
- When I leave my laptop for 15 minutes (when the powersaver locks the screen). The exact same scenario (15 seconds after login), except now the screen is locked. I need to log in again and afterwards everything works normally.
This does not occur when:
- Rebooting;
- Logging out and back in manually, without closing the lid.
The problem started after I installed nvidia drivers from rpm fusion. I have tried uninstalling the drivers and the problem goes away. If I reinstall them, the problem returns. I did run dnf upgrade, and simple rebooting doesn’t fix it either.
I have tried looking at journalctl, but even after many experiments, I couldn’t find anything related to this issue. No specific log appears at the moment of the screen turning off. I also couldn’t find any similar issues online - most people experience the screen going black permanently or some other problem with the driver. I do not have any issues after “rewaking” the screen.
I am quite new to linux in general, and would greatly appreciate any help with finding where the problem is!

Edit
And 10 minutes after posting, I found a solution in another forum. Here is the link:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-settings-daemon/-/issues/903#note_2619256
It is currently just a workaround, but it seems to solve my issues.
