Screen locks during setup

When I boot up the iMac machine goes into Setup and locks up when on the 3rd screen, asking for name. It does not allow any input. I’ve tried rebooting to get an alternate way in, but it always goes to Setup. I’m using a Mac keyboard and have tried booting while holding down the Command key, or the Option key or the Control key or the fn key, and combinations of the keys. I installed fedora 39.
