RX 9070XT Fsr 4 in Fedora 43?

Hey there,

Got my new RX 9070xt Yesterday. In comparison with my old Nvidia card I am really pleased with the performance under linux but I am wondering how to get fsr 4 working ? Are there any news in that regard.

I don’t have an FSR4 compatible card to test but my understanding from reading posts by others over the last few months is that you need a few things:

  • A compatible version of mesa. F43 should already have this.
  • A compatible version of proton. There are several but the most common one is Proton-GE.
  • You need to pass an appropriate cmdline to the game, PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %command%

Thank you very much. I’ve installed the new Proton GE and added the steam command. Ist there anyway to check and be sure if it’s really fsr 4 that’s being used ?

It looks like that same release of Proton-GE includes another option you can enable:

PROTON_FSR4_INDICATOR

fsr4hud	PROTON_FSR4_INDICATOR	Enable the FSR4 watermark at the top left portion of the screen.

Try enabling that the same way you did with PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE and see if something shows up.
