Rpmfusion New Refreshed 580 Driver is Causing Keyboard Issues on Some Programs

Hi,

I am using Nvidia Legay GTX 1060 6MB graphics cards. Since I had a problems with current drivers, I have rolled back the driver to rpmfusion 580 driver and version locked it.

Lately, new refreshed version was released and I have updated it from 580.159.03 to 580.159.04

After this update, I am having issue on keyboard inputs on Google Sheets (like I have to enter the cell before adding data).

My GNU cash is acting weird too.

Not sure if this is the cause or kernel update and nvidia driver update combination.

Any suggestion on solution to this?

Thanks!

Did you also update to Plasma 6.7 at the same time?

My intuition would be that Plasma Keyboard is more likely to cause these symptoms than the kernel or the Nvidia driver.

This is not an appropriate solution, though it may work for a while. The solution for the GTX 1080 card and fedora 44 is given in this common issue post.

Probably. I have tried different keyboards from system settings but problem is the same.

I have mentioned that I am using old 580 version and locked it to prevent upgrading to new one. Howerver, they have just release the refreshed version.

I have checked with nvidia-smi and it seems driver is active and working as well

Not sure what is causing this. Especially Google sheets.

From that smi output it is clear that the plasma-keyboard is active.

This common issue may help to solve your problems

Indeed the plasma-keyboard is the culprit.

I tried both IBus Wayland and None

None worked for me.

Thanks a lot!
