I need precise help in setting a new root password.
I cannot do it because I do not know how.

If you are in the wheel group with your user, you can do it this way:
sudo passwd root
Then enter first your sudo Password and then twice the new root password.
Can’t remember the current one.
That’s my problem.
Can you use sudo? With your nomal user? If yes try what I explained you above. If not do the procedure from the docs as @ernie-07 posted.
