FWIW I had replied to this message, but my reply was disappeared
without notice.
I just went to the we interface because I also saw another mail with a
poll, and checked my messages there, it is not there. I also noticed
the 4 hour moderation thing.
I do not know if my message was disappeared because of the 4 hour
window thing (which I was not aware of because those notices do not
come via email) or for some other reason, but a post dropped without
notification is a bad thing and means email is very second class
citizen in here.
I can privately send you the post I sent, assuming this one actually
makes it and you care to reply …
Thats almost all the rejection message. It also mentions the topic and
such, but no, it doesn’t include the time.
The thread itself says:
“So everyone has chance to talk and to reduce back-and-forth arguments,
this topic is in “slow mode”. There must be at least 4 hours between
replies from the same person.”
Also I have noticed that the slow mode prevented message editing. I don’t know of it is/was intentional and welcome effect. Not sure it deserves separate topic, so posting it here. Also, editing the post right now messed the reply-to link. Don’t know if this is consequence of the mode or my mistake. Attempting to reply when editing causes new post being sent instead
There is a (relatively recent) option for this behavior, and it defaults to preventing editing. I assume this is to keep people from annoyingly editing their posts as a way to add more replies and evade the ban.
I think probably we should turn it off (allow edits) and ask people to not use edits anti-socially. (Flag for moderation if you see a problem.)
That is true. However it also affected my selves. When moving, reformating to give a better experience for Fesco and for the Readers to follow the topic.
I do have found out an other workaround for my selves. I have to admit that I do not use “answer by email” however this restriction also affects the users which work direct over the web interface.
My workaround is to click on the " x " in the top right corner instead of discard button. This way I create a draft for exact this topic I wanted to say something. When coming back to the article, the draft opens and I can continue where I stopped without the need to use the email to save my draft.
Beside that, not allowing editing, has an other positive effect to users which tend to burn out. It avoids notifications which indicate a change on the topic. Users which help to keep order here do depending on this notifications. Exactly to see such users which editing excessive and try to be anti-social.
P.S.
