I have Fedora 41 installed on a Dell Inspiron laptop I5 5577 that won’t boot, no power, probably a bad power switch, possibly not charging although the charging LED does light when it’s plugged in & off. I dropped it & broke the hinges & case, eventually might have broken a wire to the switch. I thought I had a nearly full 500GB SSD in it but found instead a 256GB SSD & 256GB M.2 card. I put the SSD in an external USB case & plugged it into my desktop, also running Fedora 41. It won’t mount in Dolphin. I checked it with gparted to see what was up & it shows “gparted warning, device 1 is missing fedora_localhost-live”. I don’t understand this warning.
I created a new directory /run/media/jeffrey/test & tried:
$ sudo mount /dev/sde1 /run/media/jeffrey/test
mount: /run/media/jeffrey/test: fsconfig system call failed: No such file or directory.
dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call.
That makes no sense. I plugged a flashdrive into my machine so the user directory would be there & did:
$ ls /run/media/jeffrey
test W10_x64
So, the test directory is there. I ran $ sudo dmesg & get:

I had to cut 1/3 of that output & will post below since it ran over my character limit.
Anybody have any idea what’s going on here? Did the Fedora installer spread the install across the SSD & the M.2 drive? I was certain I had 500GB full of data along with the system. Is this drive data now somehow incomplete without the M.2? I don’t yet have a external M.2 adapter to check it. It booted fine all along once it finally did boot, no problems other than the power switch problems it & shutting it off. Is this drive now somehow corrupted? Is reading the data somehow dependent on the M.2 drive? This doesn’t make any sense.
thanks
