Remote desktop that works under linux

someone made necroposting on a anydesk post and made me want to share my experience and also hear recomendations in a more conversational form, lets talk

well over a year ago i made a workstation for a customer, some programs the customer required were bought like a month later and i said sure, lets install them but doing it remotely, i wasnt going there to install a program or two

i tried with the old teamviewer and that thing basically didnt worked and then closed itself, i think we tried other solutions but ended using anydesk, i was on fedora perhaps, or another distro, so i used the web version, it worked beautifully, i was impressed, i have not used it since like 2016 and back then wasnt this good, task completed in like 2 minutes, customer happy

a couple months ago, another customer had printer problems, i went straight to anydesk, anydesk changed, alot in the last year, it is basically as bad as teamviewer now, i couldnt even move the mouse pointer at moments but could write text

the internet connection was not a problem, both sides had optical fiber, one 1 gbps, the other 500 mbps

that event made me realize that remote desktop tools that are worth to use are not common anymore

anyone has tips to force these free tools into working or possible options that work both in windows and linux?

For me, RustDesk is working well (within the limitations of Wayland) and has also worked on Windows in the past. Plus, you can host your own server for it.
