Hi everyone. I’m using Fedora 41 with Gnome 47, and there is a problem that seriously affects my use.
I was a windows user before. When I want to right-click a file for some operation, my usual steps are as follows:
right-click on a file to open the menu
-> move the cursor to an item in the menu
-> left-click this item
But in Gnome, there is another way to do this process:
press and hold the right button on a file to open the menu
-> keep the right button pressed and move the cursor to an item
-> release the right button
This feature causes frequent accidental clicks when using the right mouse button. I’ve also noticed other users mentioning this issue, but no solutions were provided (see this link). How can I disable this feature?
This is one way to select the menu options but is only an issue if the user tends to hold the right click button instead of a momentary click to open the menu. It depends on user choice which path is used for the right click menu.
On Windows I did the right-click hold in a few scenarios as an odd-workaround (maybe in Firefox?), but have some history of holding mouse buttons doing the unexpected and try not to do it.
