I think you would want to format /boot as well, but if you don’t, you should be able to manually delete the extra kernels afterwards.
Otherwise, that sounds right to me. But I’ve never attempted that sort of in-place reinstallation and there is also a slightly increased possibility of bugs in the installer because a lot of the code is new for the Fedora Linux 42 release. A backup of anything you want to keep is always recommended before doing that sort of thing.
Thanks. I just finished this process, and yes, got a recommendation about formatting /boot.
Although, in terms of what partitioning GUI tool is packed with XFce version installer, I did struggle a bit. Had to switch between logical and physical partitions in order to set mountpoints for /boot and /boot/etc, and stuff, wrapped around the existing installation.
One thing I barely missed is passing the passphrase to unlock(and connect) the encrypted partition.
