I am a photo enthusiast and for maintaining my photo library Rapid Photo Downloader is an important part of my work flow.
The thing is after upgrading to F43 the application is no longer available. I find a version for F42, but it does not install. I also find a version for F43, but it is not public, it does not install and it does work.
I have tried to communicate with the maintainer of the application, but so far without any response.
Anyone out there having an idea of the process with or development of this application? Is it something for bugzilla?
I think that is when you had it installed on F42 and upgraded … so it should update to the new version too?"
However the main problem is that it is not visible as F43 package anymore?!
Yes, that’s what happens when a package is “retired” - it is removed from the repositories.
In this case, the package was “retired” because no-one stepped up to become the package maintainer for more than 6 weeks after the package lost its previous maintainer. It doesn’t look as if it would be too hard to add it back, but somebody would need to step up and do that.
Well, unfortunately I have never written a line of code in my life else I would have tried to do the job here.
Surely, I will find a way around not having Rapid Photo Downloads available but so far I have not located any application for Linux with the same flexibility for renaming and back up.
I will wait a while and see if someone takes on the challenge.
You should disable the testing repo, it’s only purpose was to test the new build.
Assuming that it works, I’m going to update the app in the extras repo.
