I’m running F42. It seems to report itself to the update repositories correctly. However - I currently see 3 additional updates in queue for F43 when I open Discover. The updates are:
Mesa (refresh of version f43) 125.7MiB
Mesa (refresh of version f43) 97.3 MiB
Fedora Platform (refresh of version f43) 473.7MiB
This has been a regular occurrence since the release of F43. This also happened when F42 was released and I hadn’t yet upgraded.
Question:
Why am I getting updates for an upgrade I haven’t installed?
Are the files actually being installed? Or does it determine not to install?
I this having any detrimental effect on my system?
This looks like the Fedora Flatpak runtime (and its Mesa addon).
So your system is running Fedora 42, but you presumably have apps installed as Fedora Flatpaks. Those have Fedora 43 components within their sandboxed environment, and its fine to be updating those - it won’t touch the RPM packages of your system.
