Proposal to create a systemd-sysexts SIG

Hello !

Following interesting discussions at 2026 FLOCK I would like to create a SIG about building and distributing systemd system-extensions based on Fedora content.

Sysexts are a good way to add extensibility to atomic systems, especially for things that do not run well in containers nor flatpaks.

@siosm have done quite a lot of experimental work around this, see https://fedora-sysexts.github.io/, with the source here : GitHub - fedora-sysexts/fedora: Sysexts built from Fedora packages · GitHub.

The goal of this SIG would be to set up “official” building of these (probably in Konflux?), write documentation and design distribution and support.

The main open questions remaining are how do we distribute them and how to make them discoverable.

Anyone interested to join to make this happen ?
